Google +, Google reveals its real intentions!
We’ve discussed a lot on the new position Google has seemed to be taking over the past month, especially on the “social media scene”. In a previous article on Google +1, I did put in light the problems Google met in trying to get involved in social media. As predicted in the conclusion of that article, the major changes were too big to remain small, it was really the tip of the iceberg.
Google plus color scheme?
I tweeted this (in French) yesterday:
Je l’avais remarqué hier sur Google UK et aujourd’hui sur Google com. Pouvez-vous confirmer que la barre Google est noire?
(Translation: I noticed this on Google UK yesterday and on Google com today. can anyone confirm that the Google bar is black (well gray actually) ?)
We now know why Google was trying this out! It is the new Google+ color scheme.

Plusses! This is what Google is exploiting.
The Google + project is oriented for +YOU. All in all, the new features are gravitating around the PLUS. Google is offering more and is slowly getting all MySpacey and Facebooky! The whole PLUS concept will be federating Google services in a sort of package that evey web user will want to have.
Pushing things further and harder, Google has launched Google Takeout which is a sort of stream “à la Facebook” which can be read by other networks. This hints one thing: until now, we’ve all been streaming Facebook and Twitter… now Google+ will impose the others to stream Google features.
The beginning.
I’m sure that this is just the beginning and that Google is still working on this major hit. It is not letting itself being overwhelmed by other social networks, so let’s wait and see. Google will hold other surprises for its users.

Well, Google is the king of search industries. Now he is trying for the same in social media also but Google has to beat social networking king facebook which never gonna be easy for anyone as facebook is also launch a video calling application just before two days. Now it’s is interesting to see who gonna be keep social media crown in next few month.
Sandeep@Trip to India » Great point Sandeep. Who would you expect becoming the new “King”? Let’s not forget one thing, when talking of traffic, facebook will have to rely on Google, while Google doesn’t have to rely on anybody… does that shed some light on the thought?
I really can’t imagine Google ever beating Facebook on the social networking side of things – but I think the +1 button will be seen by people as a way of giving a lift to the sites that they like, rather than as a way of sharing it the way a Facebook ‘share’ button works.
The problem is that Google controls the Internet thanks to its searchengine. So whatever it creates, it can make it popular on the web.
Twitter: postboxesuk
says:
This isn’t necessarily true. Google can make it’s apps more accessible yes, but it can only make them popular by making them useful in the first place. If the user experience is poor, it won’t succeed.

Google is a giant king. The king of internet, no matter what haters say, Google will always be on top of the internet. Great project, Google always has inovative ideas. Thanks for sharing!

Totally agree with you. Google is known as “BIG G” or “GAINT G”. No one can compete with Google. Actually speaking, google has a monopoly over the Internet since 2003. They do what they want.
George Williams@Tractor games » Google is building its “Giant” side now. As discussed earlier, Social Network is what lacked on Google and this project is what is changing things on the face of the web.
Indeed Google has offered classical features in Google plus, but it is much difficult for the users to migrate from Facebook to Google Plus.
This is because, Users become loyal to FB, whereas G+ is brand new. If people think to migrate, then still they will take so much time, which may be round about 2years to 3years. These all are my expectations.
Ross@Press Release Example » I don’t think that it will take that much time. You’ll have different waves. Geeks and SEOs will move faster to G+. There is the question of privacy that will set more people to move over to the new system. Others will exploit both tools but extensions allowing one to publish one’s Facebook feed in Google+ are being launched. All in all, there are many incentives to do this. Then you’ll get the follwers. Those who are on Facebook because others are on Facebook, you’ll get those who are on Google+ because others are on Google+. I’m not expecting a mass migration but 1 year will be long enough as soon as Google+ leaves beta.

I haven’t tried Google+ yet, it all seems like a lot to maintain. Do you think Google will offer company fan pages and geo check-ins like facebook? As a business owner who is recently getting involved in social media, I feel like I need to offer the option for clients to connect using their favorite social network. I’m wondering how I should incorporate this one around the +1.
Neil Nanda@Digital C Prints » It might seem a lot to maintain Neil but Google has tried to get the best features of Facebook and Twitter together. Will google offer pro/business/brand pages? You bet it will! Sean percival has tried to conceptualise what it will look like. Let’s not forget that being well ranked on Google’s social network will now give one more importance that being well ranked on any other social network. As of last week (I know that this is a late reply) Google+ has supplanted Twitter in terms of social media presence on websites. This should answer the question wether to incorporate it or not.

Neil@Digital C Prints » You’re welcome.
It will be really hard to beat Facebook in the Social Media Game, I’d say. Unfortunately, you need an invitation to use Google + at the moment, but I could use a friend’s account for some time. In my opinion the design isn’t that good-looking (maybe they’ll change that). One thing I liked was how they handled the “Photos” section. It looks a little bit more organized (like Tumblr) than Facebooks “Photos” section.
Yes, it it will be hard but in the end: Google’s products always ended up becoming a “Boom!”.. so let’s see..
Chris@Exclusive Beats » The invitation is a way Google has to control its load. The idea that professionnals should bear in mind is that Google will give more weight to its own tools than any other tool. This means that, even if one prefers Facebook, one will has more chances of playing one’s own cards with Google+ rather than with Facebook. Another thing is that G+ is still in beta test, this might explain its austere looks but there’s already some Chrome extensions to change that. In terms of maturity it might take some time. Remember that Gmail was in perpetual beta for more than 5 years. Google plus is still too young for us to see what it can do. As you said, let’s wait and see!

Mauritius Web Design Mauseo » Well, we’re talking more or less on Google plus (the Social Media Network by Google) right now…
Considering implementing +1, but doing some research and waiting to see how it pans out. Will be interesting to see who the winner is though
After almost a month of regular Google+ use (as well as regular Facebook use) I can safely say that the Circles function in Google+ alone tops Facebook in terms of giving the user relevant social media content. With circles, I can narrow down my news feed to topics more relevant than just “Top News,” and “Most Recent,” so that I never miss an update.
I didn’t get invitation form Google Plus yet but I have read about it and it is looking indeed good.
Google+ is now taking the challenge…few months more and it will takeover the number 1 spot in social networking. Just like what FB did to FS.

Heard that G+ is already losing it’s traffic, which is bad for a social media.
There’s a huge chance that Google + can dominate Facebook, after all Google is still the 1 site on the rank. But it’s too soon to tell, let’s give it a year.

Google has build Google+ social networking features and tools into almost all of its existing online services from Search to Documents to Video (YouTube). It is a great integration.
Forming ad hoc group video chats using the Hangouts feature in Google+ is easy, and forming ad hoc groups for a little chat seems like a natural and fun thing to do in a social networking setting. Similarly, the new Huddle mobile app makes it easy for mobile (Android) users to start up group text chats.
To tell you the truth i do find google+ a little bit annoying, and everytime i wanted to give it a chance i always give up in trying to learn anything about it, but still i hope it could went viral soon ^_^

G+ I do not see as a new Facebook. He has some different characteristics that must be operated in accordance with the needs of each project. Here in Brazil, he does not have much strength, but I believe it can be a leader.

It will be really irresistible Facebook or myspace in the Public Advertising Activity, I’d say. Unfortunately, you need an invite to use Search engines + currently, but I could use a buddy’s profile for some time. In my view the style is certainly not that good-looking (maybe will certainly modify that). One element I liked was how they managed the “Photos” area. It looks a little bit more structured (like Tumblr) than Facebooks “Photos” area.
I hardly ever hear the words My Space anymore. All I ever hear is Facebook (FB), I’m interested in the Google + strategy for social media. FB is already taking up so much time. Would you interact with the same people on both sites? Looking forward to learning more about Google+.
